The Deli was one of the most ambitious projects we have taken on at Flash Flippin. JARS, a longtime creative partner with a strong retail footprint across the U.S., came to us with the seed of an idea for their Q2 in store and OOH marketing campaign. They wanted something bold, original, and fully compliant to promote their deli style cannabis retail model. The campaign started with a name, The Deli, and a small collection of internal assets to use as a launchpad.
In cannabis marketing, compliance shapes everything. No consumption. No visible product. If you slip, the content gets flagged or pulled. We leaned into the challenge and went literal. Over the course of a month our creative and production teams transformed Monger’s Provisions in Michigan into a real working deli, only this one sold greens of a different kind.
At the center was a larger-than-life Deli Owner character. Around him, four skits played out, each built around a customer archetype JARS wanted to reach. The New Customer learning how to weigh, smell, and choose. The Bargain Hunter scanning the budget line for deals. The Regular getting his usual and something extra for his motha. The Busy Mom looking for a quick way to take the edge off.
We produced the campaign in both horizontal formats for broadcast and vertical cuts for social. The scripts leaned on euphemism and subtext to speak directly to the cannabis community while staying inside the lines for compliance.
The Deli aired across Michigan during high profile events like the Met Gala and the 2025 NFL Draft. It rolled out on JARS’ social channels and became one of their most engaged-with campaigns to date. It also earned coverage in Crain’s Detroit Business for its creative approach.
The result was more than a marketing push. It was a complete brand moment for JARS, reinforcing their deli style retail identity and connecting it to real customer experiences in a way that no competitor had attempted at this scale.
