Idiopathic multicentric Castleman disease (iMCD) is a rare, life-threatening condition often mistaken for autoimmune or malignant disorders. Patients suffer for years, cycling through specialists, while hematologist-oncologists, focused on ruling out lymphoma, frequently delay suspicion or diagnosis. Many patients went untreated or inadequately managed, leaving a profound unmet need.
Through rapid collaboration across stakeholders, physicians, and patient ambassadors, we uncovered the emotional and clinical disconnect: patients felt trapped by debilitating symptoms, while HCPs focused only on symptom management rather than the underlying cause.
