“Who Kills My Freedom?” is an innovative men’s streetwear collection that transforms military experience and childhood memories into visual art through custom camouflage prints and patchwork. The project draws inspiration from Isaac Yu’s personal journey in the Taiwanese military, combined with nostalgic childhood reflections. It narrates the struggle of losing freedom and facing emotional suppression, contrasted with the sense of hope and creativity rediscovered through childhood imagination.
The custom camouflage designs reinterpret playful childhood symbols—such as stars, teddy bears, dinosaurs, and the texture of Oreo ice cream—into unique and expressive prints. These shapes are also transformed into functional design details, including teddy bear patch pockets, star-shaped pockets, and dinosaur-inspired patchwork elements. The patchwork, combined with crayon-like drawings, captures the spontaneous energy of children’s art and collage, symbolizing freedom, creativity, and rebellion against constraint. The voluminous, bold silhouettes echo the soft, rounded texture of ice cream, blending innocence with strength.
The collection challenges traditional streetwear stereotypes, presenting a fresh and artistic perspective that merges storytelling with design innovation. Its message encourages individuals to stay true to themselves—believing in their dreams and not letting others define their paths. Through this transformation from lost freedom to self-redemption, the collection not only represents the brand’s style but also embodies Isaac’s personal statement as a streetwear fashion designer.
