Concept & Technological Innovation
Fabby was developed as an AI-powered sustainability agent designed to make complex circular economy topics accessible through real-time dialogue. Instead of functioning as a conventional chatbot, Fabby was conceived as a character-driven AI interface combining 3D embodiment, storytelling, and adaptive intelligence.
At its core, Fabby integrates a structured knowledge architecture with generative AI. User input — via text or voice — is processed instantly. The system analyzes intent, connects relevant information layers, synthesizes responses, and delivers them in natural language. Fabby adapts tone, depth, and complexity dynamically, creating a personalized interaction rather than a static answer flow.
The AI is embedded within a fully animated 3D character. Speech output is generated in real time, synchronized with facial expressions, lip movement, and body language through animation rigging and motion systems. This transforms the AI from an invisible backend system into a perceivable conversational presence.
Fabby’s “Techyonion” principle structures knowledge in layers: emotional entry points, explanatory content, and expert-level depth. This multi-layered architecture enables adaptive learning journeys that respond to individual curiosity and prior knowledge. The result is not linear content delivery, but dialogic, relationship-based knowledge transfer.
Live Deployment
Fabby premiered publicly on August 22, 2025, at an open-air event at Gut Einern in Wuppertal, as part of the FAB-Region Bergisches Land within the international FAB City movement.
Visitors interacted with Fabby via QR codes on their smartphones and on-site interaction points. The AI responded instantly in spoken dialogue, demonstrating its real-time processing, conversational capability, and embodied presence in a live environment.
Impact & Scalability
The premiere marked the transition from development prototype to operational AI agent. Fabby is now implemented as a dialogic bot on the project website, with further applications planned for workshops, festivals, and hybrid learning environments.
Fabby demonstrates how AI can evolve from a functional tool into a scalable, character-driven interface that combines technology, personality, and dialogue to foster sustainable transformation.
