About The Entry
As short-form video reshapes social content consumption, AARP saw an opportunity to spark meaningful conversation across channels. Our objective was to develop a scalable video concept that engaged audiences on LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram while advancing a core AARP priority: combating age discrimination and highlighting the value of a multigenerational workforce. The result was From the Office: Etiquette Roulette, a short-form video series exploring generational perspectives on workplace habits, communication styles, and professional norms. Each episode pairs AARP employees from different generations and asks them to respond instinctively to workplace etiquette questions using simple “yes” or “no” paddles, followed by candid discussion.
THE CONCEPT:
Initially conceived for LinkedIn, the series was designed to flex across platforms — capturing attention in fast-moving feeds, encouraging self-reflection, and sparking conversation in comments. We set out to create something entertaining and relatable, while positioning AARP as a leading voice for age inclusion at work. The strategy centers on a personality-driven format aligned with how people watch and engage with social video. Authenticity is essential. Questions feel familiar to modern workplaces — covering topics such as virtual meeting etiquette, workplace attire, communication styles, email habits, and work-life balance — surfacing both humorous differences and unexpected common ground. Featuring AARP employees ensures genuine, relatable on-screen exchanges. Post copy is adjusted to fit each platform and community, allowing us to reach broader audiences while maintaining our core message. And the interactive structure invites participation and drives conversation in comments.
THE RESULTS:
The series has generated 30.6M views and 152,000 engagements, including 5,000 comments. Audience response demonstrates the true impact, with viewers praising the respectful, playful portrayal of generational differences and the value of learning from one another — reinforcing our goal of promoting the value of a multigenerational workforce:
• "Absolutely hysterical! Clearly there is a generational gap and learning from each other makes us all better”
• “I love this — it shows that all generations can learn from each other”
• “I love the mutual respect in this video”
Lastly, the series also created internal impact: Several participants have reported stronger workplace connections after filming.
