The tragic and senseless death of Breonna Taylor shook our country, sparking protests and demonstrations to bring awareness to policing and racial injustices. But even with pressure high, accountability was slow to follow. That’s why AdQuick connected with Loralei HoJay on her petition through Change.org, the world’s largest petition platform, to shine a light on the Justice for Breonna Taylor Act. The goal is to ban no-knock warrants on the federal level.

AdQuick and Loralei partnered for a crowd-funded campaign to raise money for strategic billboard placements across Kentucky. The intention was to ensure government, business and law enforcement leaders saw the American people stand with Breonna Taylor and her family.

AdQuick created the artwork and provided the billboard space, totaling 20 units across Louisville and Lexington. The team prioritized Breonna’s hometown of Louisville first, while Lexington was selected based on the overall population of independent voters in the area.

The goal of the campaign was to raise awareness, which worked twofold. The crowdfunding partnership garnered almost $80,000. The billboard campaign made 20,182,571 total impressions. In Lexington, it had over 95% reach with a frequency of over 15. In Louisville, it had 99.99% reach with a frequency of almost 19.

The power of out-of-home advertising has been proven to move social causes forward. This campaign held elected politicians accountable so they could not disregard the death of an innocent woman or ignore a solution to correcting this wrong in the future.

In June 2020, Louisville’s metro council unanimously passed “Breonna’s Law” to ban no-knock search warrants. The Change.org campaign collected the second-highest number of signatures in the website’s history with 10 million signatures.

It’s really true that everyone’s effort, combined, can make real and lasting change. Partnering with Change.org gave a boost to this grassroots movement at a critical time. It’s something AdQuick is incredibly proud to be a part of, and it is our hope that support from the industry will encourage others to take on similar endeavors.
