On the Occasion of Beethoven's 250th birthday, Dezign Format, Metropolitan Festival Orchestra and MCC International together commemorated the German musician by creating the concept of The Beethoven Experience, an interactive musical exhibition premiered in Shanghai Concert Hall. Through their Chinese hosting party LWA Brand, the parties commissioned LR Studio to produce the multimedia installations. LR Studio created two installations - "Beethoven In Color" and "Inside Beethoven's Music". 【Beethoven In Color】 "Beethoven In Color" is an interactive wall projection that visualizes Beethoven's renowned Symphony No. 5 in the form of color splashing. When a viewer approaches the wall, a new color will appear, tracing the viewer's movement while infusing with the existing colors along the way. The vivid visualization of the music brings the audience a novel perspective of interpreting the masterpiece. 【Inside Beethoven's Music】 "Inside Beethoven's Music" is an interactive sand table allows the audience to play around with the instruments used in Beethoven's symphonies. The table's shape mimics the orchestra arrangement, and the icons of the musical instruments with corresponding sensing points are projected onto the surface. The viewers could sound or mute a specific instrument by moving the cylindrical triggers onto or off the sensing points. This simple action encourages the audience to explore and deconstruct the music to have a better insight into the difficulties and subtleties behind the symphony composition. In all, the exhibition aims to introduce fresh experiences for music lovers and offer rewarding encounters for the curious.
