Franklin Township is a powerful district with a team of firefighters who volunteer to keep their community safe, but after the effects of COVID19, they struggled to increase members to carry on their crucial work. Each year they hosted a meet-and-greet, which allowed young men and women to meet the crew, ask questions, and gain interest in the life-saving aspects being a firefighter gives to a community. With the global pandemic and health risks involved in such a gathering, Franklin township had no choice but to cancel the event. With no other support system for gaining new firefighters, the groups ranks slowly dwindled, and they turned to Three Summers Creative to help bolster new recruits before it was too late.
Three Summers Creative offered a complete overhaul of their current recruitment system, including a fresh logo and new brand positioning to outline the life-saving importance firefighters bring to the community. The in-person event was replaced entirely by a virtual sign-up system through a landing page that emphasized first-hand video testimonials from long-standing firefighters. Interviews included men and women of all ages and experiences sharing what being a firefighter meant to them, as well as footage of real-time calls, including active fire response, Jaws of Life, fire-vehicle set up, and response drills. An addition commercial was also created to thank and raise awareness to the importance of firefighters, featuring a handwritten monologue from a firefighters perspective while following real firefighters during on-call response. The campaign focused on local residents, supported by targeted print mailers and branded flyers hung all over district hotspots.
As a result, Franklin Township Fire District received a record interest in new recruits, something they had previously struggled with even prior to the pandemic. The landing page answered their questions while offering 24/7 access to the video interviews, allowed different ages, genders, ethnicity, and backgrounds to find a story or fellow recruit they connected to. Three Summers Creative is both proud and excited to be part of such an important organization, and wish them many years of success.
