“A logo that does not favour one sector of activity over another: one that resonates with simplicity and is rooted in nature while turning to the future and cutting-edge technology.» This is, in substance, the creative brief for the impact of Bernese Jura that the Fondation issued in order to determine a common denominator in terms of image and communication for this Swiss region that has never had its own visual identity before. The objective of this logo was multifaceted: to accompany and showcase local foods, including the famous Tête de Moine cheese, as well as to highlight the excellence of the world-renowned industrial expertise that generates half of all the region’s employment. We have attempted to overcome these communication challenges through this finely crafted symbol, the result of long, meticulous work. Its outline represents the eight mountains that dominate the landscape. These eight symbolic centres constitute the exterior of the logo. The objective is to include all the inhabitants of the region in all their diversity. The central spiral element, representing the true backbone of the regional savoir-faire, enriches the graphic composition by evoking emblematic symbols such as the thread of a watch screw. The character font of the name Grand Chasseral, with its round, generously wide letters, shares a number of characteristics with the shape of the symbol. This graphic resemblance brings a harmonious, measured balance to the whole.
