The rate of Opioid related overdoses in Illinois is significantly higher than the national average. As a response, Prevention First, Illinois Department of Human Services, and Rescue Agency launched “A Dose of Truth,” a campaign to educate adults on opioid basics, the risks of opioid misuse, and how to safely manage a prescription.
“A Dose of Truth” focuses on increasing knowledge in a relevant and relatable way and addressing the specific gaps in knowledge that enable low-risk people to engage in opioid misuse. “A Dose of Truth” utilizes online, traditional, and physician office media placements to create diverse opportunities for engagement with the target audience. Tailored messages include topics such as the risks and benefits of use, and the importance of safe storage and disposal.
