When you’re editing a trailer for an expansion that literally has the word “Flow” in its title, you’re already a few pretty good steps down the road to knowing how to edit your footage. Like a pro-skater stringing together a line, we wanted the trailer to have an easy flow with a ton of style.
The edit had to have a pocket it could drop into, a groove if you will (and you’re groovy). That meant visuals gliding weightlessly into one another. It also meant swooping transitions that kept things rolling with no big cracks in the sidewalk to ollie over. Wavy supertitles guided the mood, and helped the viewer be one with the flow of the trailer. “It’s all gravy baby” is the mindset that needed to be established. So we established it.
How? Easy. We let the game’s quirky vibes take the wheel and took our cues from the beat of a track that was a perfect mood match for the off-beat, laid-back vibes of OOW. The end result has more flow than the Mississippi river, and smoother than Michael McDonald singing to you on a bed of clouds while wearing satin pajamas. We’ll leave you with that image.
