Nikon Sole Dance!

Put on your creative hats and start dancing.
The Nikon Z 9 mirrorless camera was designed to inspire. The camera’s new breakthrough technology has the ability to shoot 8k motion picture images at 60 frames per second in RAW format. All of this in a compact form factor, more nimble and capable than larger, more expensive cinema cameras. This camera speaks to a creator's soul.
The Z 9 is the new Nikon flagship, our idea was built on the foundation that the flagship must represent the true “soul” of a brand. It’s as much about the soul as it is the sole! “Sole Dance” is a trailblazing vision of a variety of dancing styles paired with cinematic locations in southern California. Unique people and dance married with amazing locations and an original sound track that blends them as one. Different dances with a morphing music track with the same backbeat makes this a visually intriguing and completely original piece.
With our short film "Nikon Sole Dance" we set out to far exceed the brief, not only showing the new capability but also showcasing the full depth of color, low light capability and production flexibility the Z 9 offers. The cinematography included filming at night, over water, high sun, low sun, aerials, action, and a mix of off-speed and real-time footage, all finished in 8k. It was set to an original score composed to crossover between a broad variety of choreography and dance performances. Allowing our inspiration from the Z9 to guide us, we spent a month in southern California prior to the shoot meeting with different dancers to find locations that we felt would work with their individual styles. Dancers ranged from professional to regular people who let the music guide them.
See it. Believe it.
