CNN, a global leader in breaking news and compelling storytelling, asked SAM’s audio branding experts to develop a new sonic identity for CNN News Central, the network’s 6-hour daily programming block. Like the news content, the sound would need to be bold, impactful and engaging, reflecting the journalistic leadership and credibility that is central to CNN’s brand.
The resulting thematic music package brings fresh energy to the news block while reimagining CNN’s iconic sonic brand. The custom music package centers on a confident and uplifting main theme with all live orchestration including arpeggiated strings, soaring horns, and swelling percussion. These organic musical elements elevate the composition, helping to create a heightened emotional response from the viewers of CNN News Central.
And this is a bigger mission, as the theme is intended to support the network’s emerging overall position as a bolder, more confident global news source. Combining authenticity, credibility and emotional impact helps define out a sonic brand that befits a world leader in news gathering and delivery.
