This visual identity is specially designed for the “City University of Macau Graduation Exhibition 2024”. Giving full consideration to Chinese character strokes, layout, and color, it ingeniously integrates colorful geometric solids with three-dimensional grid space, to form the characters for “graduation exhibition”, symbolizing the graduates’ pursuit of hope, dreams, and infinite possibilities in the future.
The design reconstructs the characters for “graduation exhibition”. Utilizing a modern, constructive design approach, it positions each stroke of the characters on the surface of the geometric solids, which makes the characters still readable and recognizable even under an abstract treatment. The strokes of the character for “exhibition” take the edges of geometric solids as turning points to achieve a strong three-dimensional, dynamic effect, greatly enhancing the visual impact.
In terms of layout, the characters for “graduation” are placed above “exhibition” to give a sense of upward-extending dynamism. This suggests that the graduates will progress and grow to step onto a new stage, highlighting their boundless hope and anticipation for the future. As for color, the designer has adopted orange, red, blue, and green as the main colors, and applied them to different geometric solids, which results in mutual complement to create a layered sense and a sharp contrast. This visual identity as a whole provides a positive, diverse, harmonious, innovative visual and emotional experience.
