IMF Today Annual Meetings 2023

IMF Today is a one-of-a-kind broadcast covering every aspect and development during the Annual and Spring Meetings of the IMF and World Bank. IMF Today turns the opaque world of macroeconomics into an easy-to-watch 30 minute program accessible to a global audience.
When the IMF and World Bank decided to host its 2023 Annual Meeting in Marrakech, Morocco, IMF Today went along for the ride.
Hosted in-person by veteran presenter and journalist Amanda Walker, each episode of IMF Today features live headlines, interviews with finance ministers, central bank governors, highlights from the biggest talks and seminars, lighter pieces (include the Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva taking to the pitch with senior staff against Morocco’s national football team), and a breakdown of each day’s events.
Tuning in each day of the Meetings, viewers saw a dynamic, fully produced program from Morocco. But behind the scenes, and leading up to broadcast, we were two teams on two continents making sure our purpose-built venue in Marrakech was fully equipped to work in tandem with our control room in Washington, DC.
Our producers and engineers designed a system where Amanda hosted the live feed in Morocco but graphics and video were overlaid from Washington. But it was still live TV, and our trans-Atlantic broadcast wasn’t without incident. When a key piece of communication equipment between Marrakech and Washington went down, our engineers worked around-the-clock to patch together a work around so that IMF Today went out live uninterrupted.
