The Benson Brewery rebranding promotion project presented a unique opportunity to blend storytelling with innovative design. Our goal was to create a slow-release campaign, starting at the College World Series and continuing throughout the year, to redesign labels for six of Benson Brewery’s signature beers. The project centered around Tapper, a playful and charismatic mascot, featured in various personas across the cans, each telling a story that reflected the personality and flavor of each beer.
Vision and Design Concept
The vision was to transform each beer can into a storytelling canvas, with Tapper serving as the focal point. Whether it was the lively, refreshing “College Water” or the adventurous “Hazy Hare,” each can featured Tapper in a unique persona that connected emotionally with consumers. This approach not only made each can stand out on the shelves but also created a memorable experience that encouraged consumer engagement.
Interactive and Collectible Elements
To further connect with college students and beer enthusiasts, we introduced interactive elements such as removable Tapper stickers. These stickers, designed to be collectible and fun, were perfect for laptops, water bottles, and even bumpers, fostering a sense of community and connection among consumers. Additionally, moveable beer darts targets on the cans added a playful, social dimension, making them a centerpiece for games and gatherings.
Campaign Execution and Impact
The campaign launched at the College World Series, where over 4,000 cans of “College Water” were delivered, generating buzz and excitement. The phased rollout of the remaining beer designs ensured sustained interest, with consumers eagerly anticipating the next Tapper persona. The campaign successfully enhanced Benson Brewery’s brand visibility, attracted new customers, and deepened loyalty among existing patrons.
