Deemah, a legacy brand in Saudi Arabia since 1984, has long been more than just a snack, it’s a cherished piece of childhood, a symbol of shared moments, and a staple in family traditions. However, as consumer behaviors evolved, the brand faced a critical challenge: How could it modernize its identity and appeal to younger generations while preserving its deep emotional legacy?
Rather than relying on a conventional product-driven approach, Deemah’s brand uplift campaign harnessed nostalgia as an emotional currency. The strategy was built on a unique linguistic and cultural insight, “Deemah” is also a common female name in Arabic. This allowed us to craft a ‘double-narrative’ campaign, personifying the brand as a long-lost friend returning home.
The teaser phase launched with cryptic, heartfelt messages across outdoor billboards in Saudi Arabia:
“Deemah, come back… do you remember our outings?”
“Deemah, come back… do you remember our late-night gatherings?”
These intriguing messages sparked curiosity, igniting speculation about who was calling Deemah back and why. The reveal phase then unveiled Deemah’s modernized identity—seamlessly positioning it as a contemporary yet timeless brand that remained an integral part of everyday life.
The results were staggering:
118M+ reach
299M+ impressions
107M+ video views
17K+ new followers
By blending cultural insight, emotional storytelling, and an unexpected narrative, Deemah didn’t just refresh its brand, it rekindled a connection with consumers. The campaign proved that nostalgia, when activated with fresh thinking, can be a powerful force in branding, ensuring Deemah remains a beloved companion for generations to come.
