The Volkswagen Group Media Night at Auto China 2024 was a high-impact brand activation, blending immersive design, kinetic staging, and strategic messaging to strengthen Volkswagen’s market presence in China. Designed for 600 international journalists and for no less than seven world premieres, the event served as a key press activation for the “#NEVER STOP | 40 Years Volkswagen in China” campaign, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to e-mobility and innovation.
Set in the Phoenix International Media Center in Beijing, we created a customized and temporary brand space that symbolized transformation. The centerpiece was a semi-circular stage with a 40-meter LED video horizon. Inspired by the rotating plates on Chinese restaurant tables, two double-sided LED walls were placed on kinetic turntables. This dynamic setup allowed seamless transitions between car reveals, speeches, and show elements, creating a visually captivating and highly choreographed one-hour experience.
The visual storytelling merged architecture, motion, and media content, crafting an atmospheric, three-dimensional brand experience. The rotating LED walls shifted dynamically, providing multiple stage settings that emphasized the brand’s transformative journey. Every design element – from lighting to kinetic movement – reinforced Volkswagen’s strategic vision.
The bold, immersive concept ensured that the brand’s China strategy, product innovation, and future vision resonated with media and audiences alike. The event positioned the brand as the most prominent international automotive group during the Auto China, generating strong global and local media resonance.
Through cutting-edge staging, strategic storytelling, and a powerful visual identity, the Volkswagen Group Media Night set a new benchmark for brand activation and precise world premieres. We let the journalists experience a high-impact, kinetic show, designed to stand out amid Auto China’s busy schedule and to drive long-term brand perception and trust.
