Geometric Rainbow: Breaking Dimensions with Color
My project, "Geometric Rainbow," delves into the boundless possibilities where geometric forms meet vibrant color, aiming to transcend the traditional divide between two-dimensional and three-dimensional design. Inspired by the dynamic interplay of points, lines, and planes, I explore how the strategic application of color can imbue flat shapes with a sense of volume and depth, effectively blurring the lines between flatness and solidity.
The design process involved an innovative approach to spatial perception. I utilized blurring techniques on selected elements to create a strong illusion of distance and layered space within a flat composition. Concurrently, grain effects were introduced to enrich certain graphics, adding tactile detail and distinct textural characteristics to the visual narrative.
The kaleidoscopic beauty of the rainbow served as my primary color palette inspiration. This project was a deliberate challenge to harness a multitude of colors within a single frame, striving for a result that is dazzling yet harmonious. Achieving a sense of order amidst such chromatic intensity, without succumbing to visual chaos, required extensive trial-and-error in color combination and placement. Opting for fundamental geometric shapes provided a stable foundation, crucial for maintaining coherence given the complexity of the color scheme. My exploration is rooted in color theory, specifically the principles of light and its impact on color perception, examining how varying light intensities and overlaps influence the visual outcome.
Ultimately, "Geometric Rainbow" celebrates the infinite potential arising from the union of color—which inherently has no boundaries—and geometric shapes—which define boundaries without inherent color. This synergy of "colored shapes" and "shapeless colors" opens up an endless realm of discovery in graphic design, a challenge I am passionate about pursuing.
