On May 25, 2024, Discovery Cube in Santa Ana, CA, unveiled the reimagined Dino Quest - bigger, bolder, and more exciting than ever. “With so much to explore, we can’t wait to welcome back our paleontologists-in-training to Dino Quest this summer. This project is $6M and five years in the making, and it’s pretty spectacular!” shared Joe Adams, CEO of Discovery Cube. Beaudry Interactive served as the creative and technology partner on this epic transformation. The original Dino Quest, powered by MagiQuest, closed before 2020. The challenge wasn’t just to rebuild, but to reimagine, from brand identity and logo design to fresh gameplay and interactive learning strategies. With the guidance of legendary paleontologist Jack Horner and the visionary Discovery Cube team, Beaudry brought Dino Quest roaring back to life. At the heart of the experience are four interactive games that turn guests into paleontologists on a scavenger hunt for fossils, bones, and artifacts. To power the adventure, the Beaudry team designed and produced the Dino Tracker, a handheld device inspired by real field tools. More than 200 units were engineered and built, featuring haptic feedback, colorful graphics, and a kid-friendly three-button interface. The journey begins at the Field Office, where host Tyra Digwell greets players on a tablet-style monitor. With the tap of capacitive buttons, Tyra delivers mission briefings while her display case magically fills with dinosaurs and artifacts through a dazzling Hypervsn 3D holographic display. From there, explorers set off from the Hub, scanning panels across the outdoor exhibit to unlock challenges, quizzes, and surprising factoids, while encountering larger-than-life moments, like a towering animatronic T-Rex. Additional “WOW Moments” highlight real paleontology techniques, from grid mapping to fossil jackets, and build toward a finale bursting with projection, sound, and lighting effects that bring prehistoric giants to life. Behind the scenes, Beaudry’s award-winning Diva® show control system ensures seamless operations. For guests, Dino Quest feels like stepping into a real dig site—tracking fossils, facing down a T-Rex, and watching dinosaurs appear before their eyes. Every discovery adds to the thrill, blending science with pure adventure. Visitors leave wide-eyed, buzzing with fun.
