In conjunction with Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages, Visual Latina developed an omnichannel shopper marketing campaign to activate during Hispanic Heritage Month 2025. We created a program featuring two inventive, beloved Hispanic characters (Grandma, aka “Abuelita”, and Grandson, aka “Albert”) who love authentic, delicious family recipes and want to share them with fellow shoppers during this celebratory occasion.
Based on the insight that Hispanics are tech-savvy mobile shoppers who enjoy passing down cultural heritage to the next generation, our campaign centers around a mobile videobot in which Albert and Abuelita come to life through AI, and open up their kitchen so shoppers can interact with them and select recipes to make themselves at home. In order to drive bigger shopping baskets at retail, we promoted the partnership between the brands Sprite and Charras Tostadas, ensuring that all cultural recipes feature those key ingredients.
How does it work? By simply scanning a QR code on point-of-sale, shoppers open a web-app that houses the animated videobot experience. They have the option to first select a category, then choose a recipe, save and share it, or download exclusive coupons related to the ingredients in the dish. During each interaction, shoppers listen to short, charming video clips from Albert and his Abuelita as they describe the recipe and what makes it special for them. Our lively characters are personified naturally in conversation, interacting through voice (aligned perfectly with their moving mouths) and natural bodily movements in each video scenario. As Abuelita boasts about her tasty dish and sips on an ice-cold Sprite, shoppers can’t help but be drawn in!
Supported by in-store POS and a physical mailer, this omnichannel program was activated at Albertsons’ banner stores in Texas, proving to be an engaging and interactive retail experience, leveraging innovative technology to connect with Hispanic and non-Hispanic shoppers alike during Hispanic Heritage Month!
