About The Entry
TUKU FEAST × TUKU CULINARY WALK uses food as an entry point into culture, shaping a rich and immersive experience that invites visitors to walk through living streets, listen to local stories, and taste the authentic flavors that define the town of Tuku. The curated walking journey connects several key cultural landmarks—including the Japanese-era Tuku Government Office, Shuntian Temple, the First Market, and the historic commercial corridors of Zhongshan and Zhongzheng Streets. Through these interconnected spaces, participants encounter Tuku’s heritage through multiple dimensions: history, religious practice, local industry, everyday life, and community relationships. Visitors are not passive observers; they experience the town’s rhythm and cultural identity firsthand.
The cultural journey culminates in TUKU FEAST, a banquet designed to extend storytelling through ten representative dishes. Each dish blends classic local flavors, food memories, regional agricultural ingredients, and the creativity of young returning entrepreneurs, forming an “edible cultural map” of the town. Signature dishes—such as duck noodles, fist-shaped glutinous rice, handmade rainbow noodles, traditional rice cakes, and peanut-oil creations—correspond to distinct narratives, reflecting Tuku’s culinary roots, artisanal skills, family histories, and social values. The feast becomes a flavorful microcosm of Tuku’s identity, turning food into a medium of cultural expression.
The project brought together 30 local businesses and engaged more than 315 participants, generating 22 media features and surpassing 2.88 million social media impressions. These outcomes significantly elevated Tuku’s visibility and reframed the town through the lens of “culture × cuisine × historic streets.” The initiative also aligns with SDGs 8, 11, 12, and 17 by promoting local economic development, district revitalization, responsible consumption, and cross-sector partnerships.
TUKU FEAST × TUKU CULINARY WALK presents the cultural spirit of a small town in a way that is authentic, layered, and sustainable—demonstrating how food, storytelling, and place-based experience can build meaningful and enduring cultural identity.
