Moneterra – The Money Museum of the Croatian National Bank is a permanent exhibition that explores money as a system based on trust, value and collective belief. The project addresses the growing need for financial literacy by translating complex economic concepts into fun and engaging spatial experiences.
The name “Moneterra” combines the words money and earth, expressing the idea of money as a human construct grounded in labour and social agreement. Moneterra identity interprets a bank vault door in a digitally transformed and gamified way, symbolising both security and the dematerialisation of money. Developed as an integrated design approach, naming, identity and spatial communication form a coherent narrative guiding visitors from early exchange systems to contemporary financial networks. The project was conceived and realised within six months.
As a public institution, the Croatian National Bank uses the museum to provide accessible knowledge for diverse audiences. By transforming abstract information into interactive environments, the project demonstrates how spatial communication can make complex systems understandable, approachable and relevant to everyday life.
