Empowering Nantou Festival

At its core, the essence of public events organized by local governments is public service, with the ultimate mission of reconnecting people with the land. Transcending traditional event boundaries, this festival successfully united a cross-generational force of youth volunteers (aged 15 to 45) to actively practice local placemaking and community service. Through 8 meticulously curated local craft workshops, over 600 attendees experienced the authentic charm of Nantou firsthand.
Far more than a one-day event, it was an immersive, cross-disciplinary learning mission. The organizer invited nearly 100 youth volunteers to step beyond conventional frameworks and embrace a public service learning mindset. Their involvement spanned from guest reception to co-performing on stage with top-tier artists. By blurring the lines between "service providers" and "performers," we transformed the festival grounds into a dynamic theater for their self-realization. Warming the community with their actions and energizing the region with their passion, these youths unveiled a bright future for Nantou's cultural regeneration.
