Centered on the themes of Origin, Unity, and Legacy, this event titled "The Yuanshan Ancestral Rite: A Living Heritage, Reimagined" translates clan memory, family ethics, and cultural identity into a ceremonial experience shaped by contemporary design language. Through a solemn and ordered spatial arrangement, a coherent visual identity, ritual pacing, and mechanisms for collective participation, the design team transforms abstract family history into a cultural occasion that every participant can feel and help complete. The choice of the Grand Hotel Taipei on Yuanshan — its palatial roofline and vermilion columns instantly recognizable as an emblem of classical Chinese architecture — allows the ancestral rite to become not only an act of remembrance but a collective declaration, one through which clan members across generations affirm their cultural roots while turning toward the future.
The ceremony unfolds in five stages — Arrival and Assembly, Cultural Introduction, the Ancestral Rite, Collective Tribute, and Documentation and Broadcast. At arrival, welcome, registration, identification, and wayfinding design help clan members from different regions and generations build a shared sense of identity. The main rite proceeds through offerings, ceremonial bows, readings, and invocations, shifting participants from observers into active agents of cultural transmission. Content woven through the ceremony draws on clan history and ancestral virtue, elevating the event beyond a single family's ritual into a public field of education on the culture of honoring one's forebears. Combined with video documentation and live broadcast, the ceremony extends beyond the limits of time and place, allowing clan members and the wider public — at home and abroad — to bear witness together.
 
The deeper significance lies in ensuring this gathering does not end with the day itself. By structuring the ceremonial program and preserving it on film, the project allows family memory to settle into a lasting cultural asset — one that can be recorded, shared, and taught. In bearing witness together, clan members across generations take up the responsibility of understanding their roots and carrying ethical inheritance forward, while younger generations are given a more contemporary way to draw close to traditional rites.
