Inside the USA?s Only Traveling African American Rodeo<br>Culture Trip commissioned photographer, Brenton Gieser, to photograph The Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo in Oakland, California, which is an African American rodeo named after the famous Texas-born black cowboy. Originated in 1984, the rodeo continues to celebrate black cowboys and cowgirls and their contributions to building the American west. Aside from educating its audience about the west?s true diversity, the athletes provide an entertaining show for families of all ages.
