About The Entry

On July 18th, 1994, the explosion of a bomb at the Argentine Israelite Mutual Association (AMIA, Asociación Mutual Israelita Argentina) took the lives of 85 people and injured over 300. Radio Mitre was the first media to arrive at the scene, becoming one of the closest links between the witnesses and the families of the victims. Now, 25 years after this event that stirred all Argentineans, Radio Mitre made a documentary that seeks to relive the most poignant moments of the event's media coverage using powerful audios and first-hand testimonies.
Since its first day on the air, 94 years ago, Radio Mitre sought to report and to be as close as possible to the facts. The day of July 18th, 1994, was no exception. The documentary seeks to depict the professionalism, affected by the case delicacy, with which Radio Mitre was able to broadcast in real time one of the saddest days in the history of Argentina and the world.
After a month of intensive work, it was decided to disclose the documentary on the same day, hour and minute on which the attack was perpetrated. The platforms chosen for the transmission were radiomitre.com.ar and Radio Mitre’s social media. Meanwhile, thanks to the sustained actions of the station’s journalists and radio speakers on the air, it was possible to reach out to the 1.3 million listeners who tune in every day.
On radiomitre.com.ar there was also a campaign involving the journalistic piece from the documentary, the historic coverage of the attack, promotional banners, and content capsules which were shared among different social media. “25 Years of AMIA. The Day of the Attack” reached over 100k viewers on the station's digital media. This result strengthened the 94-years brand’s commitment with information and reality.
