Today’s youth are ready to break and make changes globally. They are filled with unlimited energy and potential to become successful in their respective fields of life. They are immensely innovative and creative. However, the youth which makes up 70% of the population, lack enough opportunities at their disposal to showcase their talents and the rising youth unemployment which stands at 55% are one of the most significant problems facing the youth especially in Kenya today. So how could we help them better showcase their talents to positively impact their lives and the society? We developed Ujuzi Mtaani website. A platfform for the youth to display their talents and work. The name was derived from the words “Ujuzi” meaning skills and “Mtaani”, slang for hood. We then took to the heart of it where immense talent resides – mtaani, focusing mainly on the marginalized regions of Nairobi. We held forums and invited the youth to showcase their skills in different fields. The most exceptional talents were then featured on the platform. To further nurture their talents, we had key personalities who have excelled in their respective fields as mentors. We also took to social media by opening platforms to engage the youth on the initiative and drive the conversation on youth empowerment.
