Interview
madade.xyz, United Kingdom
Simple, modern, and minimalistic. Matt Darczynski is the one responsible for pushing Danish juice bar and coffee shop chain across the UK!
1 Please give us a brief bio of yourself and your creative background.
My name is Matt and I am a London based self thought independent designer with 10 years of experience.
2 What made you become/why did you choose to become a creative?
Since I can remember, I have always been inspired by creatives, especially graphic designers. Self believe was never something I was strong at, and this is probably why it took me quite a while to pursue a creative route. At one point in my life I have worked for several start-ups. Some of those companies would launch interesting products and services, and many of them would solve problems in the world. But one thing that was not on their radar, was the creative industry. There were just no start-ups that would serve that particular sector. It was exactly at that point, that I got inspired, motivated and hyped to launch my start-up. This was also my first step towards a creative career. My start-up had one goal, to serve the creative industry and support them where possible. I
3 Tell us more about your business/company, job profile, and what you do.
My company is called madade.xyz and I specialise in brand development and logo designs. Obviously, I did not have a company from day one. It actually took me a while to master my skills, build trust, grow my customer base and reach a certain point to call it a job. My job is not just the money part, it means far more to me than that. I want to design something that solves my customers problems.
4 What does “creativity” mean to you?
To me creativity means being one with my clients. I want to design things that have a voice and impact, something that shakes up the viewer.
5 To you, what makes a “creative” idea and/or design?
Develop something that customers can connect with.
6 Tell us about your creative and/or design process.
A design process has many elements, and I think all designers have their own process. For me, the most important aspect in that process is communication with my clients. I want to understand them and understand their destination. Moving on from that point, I think there is no science in developing a design. Its you, your creativity and your computer.
7 What's your favorite part of the creative process and why?
Delivering the end result to my clients and seeing their satisfaction.
8 Describe your creative style and its main characteristics.
I don't believe in having a particular creative style. In my opinion, we have to adopt quickly to changes in the market, keep up with the latest trends, learn fast and apply new styles and techniques as we progress with time.
9 Do you think your country and its cultural heritage has an impact on your creativity process?
Not at all. I really don't have the time and interest to think what impact the country I live in has on my creativity process. I focus on my clients, my work and the end result.
10 Congratulations! As the winner of the 2021 MUSE Creative Awards, what does it mean to you and your company and team to receive this award distinction?
I feel humbled and honoured to have been able to compete alongside some incredible creative individuals.
11 Can you explain a bit about the winning work you entered into the 2021 MUSE Creative Awards, and why you chose to enter this project?
I have developed a new brand for a renowned aesthetic doctor based in the UK. Having heard about Muse Awards I wanted to give it a shot and see if I could make it to the winning podium.
12 What was the biggest challenge with this project?
Every person has a different understanding of the word challenge. For me, it means to be the best at what I do. I am not comparing myself with others but myself. Each time I want to be better than last time, and this is the challenge I see in front of me and also saw with this project.
13 How has winning an Award developed your practice/career?
It gives me more motivation to continue my work and become a better person day by day.
14 What are your top three (3) favorite things about our industry?
Diversity, Challenges, Satisfaction.
15 What makes your country specifically, unique in the creative industry?
I am based in the UK and there are many famous creative people and knows universities in that field. Other than that I think every country has a piece of the puzzle that contributes to the creative industry.
16 Where do you see the evolution of creative industry going over the next 5-10 years?
I think Artificial Intelligence will have a big impact on the creative industry. It may help or it may destroy it. All of it is in the hands of humanity and where our boundaries are.
17 If you were a student entering this industry or an aspiring MUSE Creative Awards submitter, what advice would you give them?
Keep going, never give up and never compare yourself to others. Each creative is unique and has its own style and process. Keep hold of it and never let anyone tell you what you can or can not do.
18 What resources would you recommend to someone who wants to improve their skills in the creative industry?
Since we live in the age of internet, there a plenty of free resources to learn from. Youtube and Instagram are my two spots to reach out for inspiration.
19 Tell us something you have never told anyone else.
If I tell you then everyone will know :-)
20 Who has inspired you in your life and why?
There are many people and the list would be super long. I think Steve Jobs & Jony Ive this duo had the best approaches to solve design challenges and inspired me a lot.
21 What is your key to success? Any parting words of wisdom?
I leave the words of wisdom to others, there are many people with interesting quotes. One thing that I would say is that you need to be yourself. Never let others change you. You and only you are unique. God put you on this planet for a reason, so don't try to be like others be you and stay unique. Don't let the internet influence you in a negative way. Don't think you need to keep up with a game that has no meaningful goal. Compete against yourself and stay positive everyday, be kind and help others where possible. Never put money in front of your goal. Stay real and keep smiling :-)
22 Do you have anything else you would like to add to the interview?
Thank you for this journey and experience
