After the unjust killings of George Flyod, Ahmed Arbery, and Breonna Taylor... a blind eye could no longer be turned to racism in America. Producer, Angel N. Livas uses her gift of storytelling to shed light on the racial disparities that exists between law enforcement and Black men in America, during the one-hour documentary "The Enlightenment". The project was produced in just under 3-weeks, and premiered on YouTube on Juneteenth. The project has been viewed over 1,500 times and is the preface to an hour-long conversation with prominent and well-respected men of the African American community as: New York Times Best-selling author, Dr. Michael Eric Dyson; 100 Black Men of America, Chairman - Thomas W. Dortch, Jr.; Senior Pastor of Alfred Street Baptist Church, Rev. Dr. Howard-John Wesley; and others.
The documentary is the first installment of the I AM BLACK platform that was created by Livas in June of 2020. "The I AM BLACK project was placed on my heart and executed from the lens of a mother with two young black boys (ages 5 and 7)," says Livas. "A solution to police brutality and racism isn’t optional, to me... it’s necessary. I AM BLACK is my attempt to do my part to enlighten, educate, and evolve us past the colorline".
