After 7 years of speculation, 2020 finally revealed the next-generation Xbox and Playstation consoles. Wanting to put KFC gaming at the heart of a key moment for gamers worldwide, we created a legitimate entry point into the console wars narrative, taking Xbox and Sony head-on with the launch of the “Official KFConsole”.
Planning for virality we took a strategic decision on timing, to reveal the KFConsole in a 24-hour window post the “first look” of Sony’s PlayStation 5. Not only was timing crucial, visually the KFConsole had to stand shoulder to shoulder with its competitors; gamers are highly critical of brands looking to capitalize on their community. The high production value, CGI asset we created made social media users and journalists alike question the authenticity of the console itself; could the KFConsole actually be a new and significant contender?
When it came to specs, we integrated the most frequent requests from gamers for next-gen consoles: 4k, 120fps gameplay and cross platform compatibility. This attention to detail further cemented KFC within the global conversation and demonstrated their understanding of the space. Integrating the brand we built the console in the shape of a KFC bucket & included a Chicken Chamber, to heat your favourite menu item - something we knew the new Xbox and Playstation hardware would lack...
