Northwell's frontliners were the first to take and give the COVID-19 vaccine in the US. As the vaccine vials and other items used that day are sent to the Smithsonian museum to be preserved for history, our health care heroes reflect on the past year of COVID-19 challenges—and the new hope that the COVID-19 vaccines bring as we move forward. In a series of interviews with Northwell Health’s CEO Michael Dowling, nurse manager Sandra Lindsay, the first American to be vaccinated in the country, and Onisis Stefas, vice president and chief pharmacy officer, they reflect on the past year, discuss the present and share their hopes for the future. The compilation of videography, photography and aggregated footage was all captured in 2020 and 2021 by the entire Northwell multimedia team. It’s a comprehensive look at the health system’s journey which was filled with tragedy, triumph and hope. Shared on Northwell’s YouTube channel, the video was also used to open a health system leadership town hall on the one-year anniversary of when the CDC declared the coronavirus a global pandemic.
