As a leading telecom and tech brand, Verizon has a lot at stake in convincing Avid Gamers that Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband is truly distinct. But as more brands enter the space, the more they’re met with skepticism and frustration—especially brands without a gaming history. Verizon couldn’t just appear with a list of RTBs trying to sell gamers on service. First Verizon needed to prove it was a true community insider, understanding the frustrations of lag and the joy of nerding out over favorite games.
So we made a film that put familiar, frustrating connectivity issues gamers know and love (to hate) into the real world. We filled it with authentic glitches and deep-cut Easter eggs to give gamers of all stripes something new to see with every watch. But things in our wild world aren’t going haywire for no reason; every glitch in the film is a direct reference to something gamers commonly experience due to poor, laggy connections. The visual effects crescendo into a cacophony of glitches that ultimately breaks the world...before a reset and the arrival of 5G Ultra Wideband resolve the issues and return the world to crystal clarity.
Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband will change connectivity as we know it—particularly when it comes to the world of gaming. So we packed “The Reset” full of references and in-jokes only gamers would get to show them what a glitch-free experience could feel like on the other side of 5G Ultra Wideband.
