Facing the lasting existence of the earth, human beings in their millions of years are just a drop in the bucket. Nevertheless, it was those years that had seen human beings reproducing, creating and evolving on this blue planet, and ultimately exploiting countless gray and white “city forests” around the world. Our work is exactly enlightened by the gray and white “city forests” and natural forests on the earth.
We read the human history and found the fact that it is a sheer paradox. Human beings never stop calling for protection and return to nature while neither stop destroying, innovating and establishing. The establishment of cities is no exception. Human beings have been building new “gray and white forests” on the green and brown forest land. The designer takes advantage of optical illusion, linear structures and symmetry to ingeniously paint cities and forests on the tile, which are two images conflicting and coexisting with each other at the same time. It not only expresses designer’s contemplation about human beings and the environment, but also contains the appeal for environmental protection.
This series got the inspiration from three periods of time, respectively the morning, the noon and the evening, and also from diverse forms of urban architecture. Additionally, it adopts the full-body matte technique. The “morning” version of low saturation stands for the beauty of haziness as the mist shrouds and the dew glistens when people wake up from the dream. The “noon” version of high contrast stands for the beauty of vitality as the sun shines radiantly over the bustling city. The “evening” version of clear lines and edges stands for the unique charm of cities as towering buildings stand under the street lights at night.
