Kids in Wisconsin face a mental and behavioral health crisis, with higher rates of suicide and mental health conditions than much of the country. As the state’s largest independent pediatric healthcare provider, Children’s Wisconsin is compelled and positioned to do something about it — because kids deserve the best.
In this short documentary, Children’s Wisconsin’s mission to raise awareness and reduce the stigma surrounding mental and behavioral illness comes to life through the story of Carson Molle, a teenage boy who survived a suicide attempt. Carson’s story is not an easy one to share, but it’s an important one. In his own words, Carson shares his experience and struggles, how Children’s Wisconsin was there to help put him back together, both physically and mentally, and of his new found purpose — that no one else should have to go through what he did.
This story that could have ended in tragedy instead becomes a powerful message of hope.
It will take all of us to end the stigma surrounding mental and behavioral illness. It will take determined organizations like Children’s Wisconsin, kids like Carson who are willing to share their stories, and you. Together we can do this. We can end the stigma and change the outcome. For all kids. Everywhere.
