Situated in the heart of the Učka Nature Park in Croatia, the permanent exhibition of the Poklon Visitor Centre gradually unfolds the multi-layered heritage story of the Učka mountain. Immersed in the unique geography that surrounds it, the exhibition brings together intriguing corners of nature found miles away throughout the park, inviting you to explore, closely approach and protect the rich plant and animal ecosystem.
Given that the mountain landscape shows strong traces of millennia of human presence, the exhibition further celebrates the unbreakable bond and the intrinsic need of people to connect with nature. Carefully constructed and custom-tailored interpretation media invites every visitor to grasp Učka’s ‘spirit of place’. The warm welcome connects you to the inspiring lessons from the past directly presented by the local community.

From the moment the visitor steps into the exhibition space the interactive experience takes him on a historical journey to different natural and cultural treasures. Starting with the protected underground fauna, the visitor proceeds to get to know the local community, geographical and archaeological mountain phenomena, valuable and endangered species, and individuals from around the world that were inspired by the above. Each element of the exhibition is tailored specifically for the space. Through the exhibition, the visitor can experience unique digital solutions: fly like a bat using echolocation, build their dry-stone wall, learn by moving the mountain through an impressive kinetic model or stand on the mountain peak with an interactive 360°display.

The exhibition greatly contributes to climate action promoting eco-tourism and the importance of heritage preservation, while raising awareness of our role in impacting the nature that surrounds us. As such, it becomes a relevant place of sustainability in a world of rapid change.
