In 2016, regional energy company, Laclede Gas, had gone through significant growth and took that opportunity to rebrand as Spire, Inc. After the new brand was in place for a few years, the organization enlisted long-time design partner Arcturis to express this new brand narrative into all its workspaces through design. Housed within a historic, Phillip Johnson designed building, Arcturis was challenged to integrate experiential graphics, signage and wayfinding, lighting design, and interior design within the iconic design.

A deep discovery process was completed to understand Spire’s mission of “Energy That Champions People” to inform a multi-faceted design approach. A system of wall graphics and messaging walls were created to provide inspirational texture to their office spaces and service centers with the goals of challenging employees to serve, grow, and lead. The visuals, surrounded by specified lighting and interior design elements, provide a backdrop to Spire’s existing communication campaigns reflecting community and daily life.

Nationally recognized artist Alicia Lachance was engaged to collaborate with Spire leadership and communications team to craft Spire’s brand elements into dynamic, multi-media art. Several vibrant pieces were created by integrating natural forms and iconography that offer an abstract expression of energy. Both actual artwork and digital interpretations of the work are being used throughout the company both in print and the physical environment from a huge video wall to custom wall coverings to original artwork.

Spire’s investment in elevating their brand experience in their various workplaces demonstrates the power of brand. This energy company expresses its service-driven mission in art as in everyday life.
