This short animation video is for Climate Investment Funds (CIF), part of the World Bank, and one the world’s largest climate finance mechanisms for developing countries seeking to accelerate climate action. We animated a report from CIF communicating Indigenous Women as potential champions of climate action solutions. This video raises important questions for development and climate practitioners: How can we learn from Indigenous women for effective, sustainable, and inclusive climate solutions? How can we support and empower them to integrate their traditional knowledge and practices in climate mitigation and adaptation solutions? The message highlights that although Indigenous Women are often subject to discrimination based on their gender and social status, they play a key role in bringing change to the current global climate crisis. Ultimately, we need to learn from Indigenous Women as they are leaders and decision-makers for just and inclusive transitions towards low-carbon and climate-resilient economies.
