Cat Trial 12: No Hands

Cat Trial 12: No Hands highlights how that technology is on its way for customers in every industry.

In addition to showcasing the 794 AC mining truck, this video was also the premiere of an autonomous Compact Track Loader. The Cat 299D3 got into the action and gave a sneak peek as to what will be possible through autonomy in the near future.

Autonomy is rapidly emerging in the mining industry as essential for improving safety and productivity and lowering cost. And in Cat Trial 12, we put that technology front and center, sending the 794 AC through an obstacle course lined with glassware and fine China. The 794 AC, equipped with MineStar™ Automation Solutions, enables total autonomous operating of the mining trucks, interaction with other equipment, and integration with customer mining processes and systems, all managed by our MineStar system. Cat® autonomous equipment was originally introduced at MINExpo 1996, and the 794AC was showcased at the recent MINExpo.

With our Major League Soccer sponsorship, we got some help telling this story from four-time FIFA World Cup participant and former MLS star DaMarcus Beasley, as he demonstrated the agility and precision on an obstacle course that our autonomous machines matched on similar courses – all with “no hands.” Beasley runs through a course made up of officially licensed Cat® merchandise including: mobile phones, 55 quart coolers, portable lights, tool bags and shovels.
