As an online accounting software provider, we recognise the importance of balancing the amazing work that accountings do with moments of fun and a sense of community.
Serial Killer Receipts is our tactical social campaign, created to engage accountants and bookkeepers, and own the conversations on Halloween.
Paper receipts are regarded as a source of great pain, anguish and dread for our audience. So, this Halloween we tapped into this nightmare to create a social campaign, that invoked shivers, fear and some light-hearted relief for accountants and bookkeepers.
We meticulously crafted social posts featuring a fake receipts. Each receipt depicted a famous horror movie killer, such as Freddy Krueger. This simple concept was brought to life through the store name, items purchased, date and any other detail we could adapt from a traditional receipt. They were a combination of movie trivia and dry humour and a fun take on gruesome subject matter.
The posts we released over 24hours. Each one was accompanied with a question for our audience, such as who they thought the receipt belonged to, what was tax deductible and what expenses could be reconciled.
They were intended to offer some light relief to all the Accountants and bookkeepers preparing for Tax season. We wanted to offer them a few moments of distraction, some community engagement and position ourselves as a human-centric brand that understands they have a wicked sense of humour too.
