Jenica Leah has sickle cell disease - a blood disorder mainly effecting black people. It is an invisible disease causing a long list of life-threatening complications. Sickle cell is characterized as a rare disease yet 17 million globally live with it. And it doesn't get much attention amongst doctors, researchers and in the pharma industry. Jenica Leah wants to change that. She has published a children's book, runs a radio show and produces a podcast. She fights to make the invisible, visible.
'Making the invisible, visible' is a short documentary funded by Novo Nordisk. It is produced in Birmingham UK following Jenica Leah, yet most of the crew is based out of Copenhagen, Denmark.
'Making the invisible, visible' was launched at World Sickle Cell day, June 19, 2022, to raise awareness about sickle cell disease and the need to drive change.
The film is submitted by Director, Thomas Fink, supported and approved by Novo Nordisk.
