Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks’ (Friends) annual Parks Update is as key communications strategy and end-of-year giving tool for Friends and one that Miller Maxfield manages from start to finish. Presented as both a direct-mail brochure and a digital asset, the Parks Update is a comprehensive look at the year, celebrating accomplishments, thanking donors and charting a course for the future.
Utilizing its in-depth understanding of Friends’ mission, vision, projects and plans, Miller Maxfield provided all creative services for the Parks Update, including concept, design/layout, photography, copy-editing and production management for the 16-page product. The Parks Update includes a printed booklet with a remittance envelope, as well as a digital version for website, email and social media use.
Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks works in close partnership with California State Parks through a co-management agreement to support 32 state parks, beaches and historic parks in Santa Cruz County and San Mateo County.
Since 2009, Miller Maxfield has served all of Friends’ marketing/communications needs. Miller Maxfield’s work for Friends is focused on equity and access for the parks, including increasing access for disadvantaged populations; telling the story of the Castro Adobe, which is California’s newest state historic park; and promotion of all local state parks and beaches, with the goal of increasing visitation.
