The Government Hall of Fame originated in 2019, when the inaugural event took place at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. In the second year, due to COVID-19, the event pivoted to being temporarily online-only. To create a Government Hall of Fame Evening of Honors virtual experience, Decision Counsel reached out to the library of Congress to obtain the Cathedral’s blueprints to build an accurate 3D "virtual hall." This virtual experience was so well-received in 2020 and 2021, when the event resumed as a live, in-person event in 2022 it was held as a hybrid event with the virtual experience retained for online viewing.
