A survey provides a sneak peek into a particular world, providing a quantitative snapshot that evidences demographics, behaviours, attitudes, and market observations. But survey findings are just a collection of data. They don’t tell a story.

PA delivered a piece of storytelling-led thought leadership about the future of retail banking - underpinned by its global survey of 600 leaders from technology and banking organisations.

The retail banking space historically lacked unified data to help guide it through its biggest challenges so there was an opportunity for PA to turn a complex issue with disparate data and geographic nuance, into a unified data-driven story that provided clarity in an otherwise confusing space.

Following internal crowd-sourcing to harvest ideas for a new data-driven banking report, PA worked with agency, Man Bites Dog, to design and rollout an international survey to banking and tech leaders in the UK, Netherlands and Nordics. A diverse team of PA experts analysed the quantitative data to draw out the most compelling stories, and collaborated to provide country input and local market insights, capability and proposition insight, governance, marketing, strategy and direction.

Combining data-led stories with its proprietary FutureWorlds™ methodology, PA created its Vision For Banking report – turning data into actionable insight - to create a narrative around the banking sector’s role in creating a positive human future.

The report used original illustrations in a contemporary style with bold, on-brand colours to reinforce brand identity. These illustrations featured diverse characters and embodied each of the four FutureWorld™ scenarios in the report. The graphics were repurposed for web and social media to create a tightly woven integrated campaign with a strong visual identity.

PA’s survey resulted in a provocative report helping banking and tech organisations develop informed, flexible strategies to help tackle global challenges.
