Over 19 years of history, the Yahoo Asia Buzz Award is one of the most coveted Award Presentation Ceremony held by Yahoo Hong Kong to recognise the top searched music artists and celebrities of the year.
Our challenge: How do we take the 19 years of Yahoo Buzz Award’s grand cinematic storytelling and weave it into a truly immersive, interactive experience?
Through innovation and technology, we have delivered a Web3 experience that breaks boundaries in every sense. Audiences were invited to immerse themselves in the live performance which was streaming simultaneously in the real-world AND at the Metaverse.
The use of immersive experience can impact the brain of audiences like a memory of something they did, not something they merely watched or listened to. This experience would more likely be talked about, memorised, and most importantly, take action.
A fun virtual space called "Yahoo Buzzland" was created at Decentraland, where the LIVE of the Award Presentation Ceremony - which is taking place at the HK Int'l Exhibition Centre - was streamed real time for audiences around the world. People from different geographical locations were being linked by 3D virtual space called the Metaverse. They can feel the artists' powerful voices while enjoying zero-distance interactions, breaking all the locational boundaries. What's more, audiences can switch up their avatar's most epic crazy party look to interact freely with the celebrities at the virtual afterparty like never before! Social connection, avatars, immersive-3D world with realistic interactive experiences and virtual goods were all baked into the essential ingredients of the virtual Award Presentation that constitute a remarkably unforgettable Metaverse experience.
This personal interaction at the Metaverse was deemed by Millennials as an easier channel to establish meaningful connections with their idols. They can also seek entertainment and enhanced experience that the physical world cannot offer. Every interaction, every communication, every experience is an opportunity for audiences to create a new adventure.
