This is an online adaptation following a physical exhibition. The physical exhibition was a collaborative effort among three renowned museums in Taiwan, including the National Palace Museum, the National Taiwan Museum, and the National Museum of Taiwan History. These museums took turns hosting the physical exhibition in their respective venues. Panosensing was commissioned by the National Museum of Taiwan History to transform this exhibition into an online platform during its tenure at the museum. We utilized panoramic photography and online interactivity to present the exhibition in a digital format.
Bringing this exhibition online presented unique challenges:
1. Low-Light Conditions and Glass Reflections: The extremely dim lighting within the exhibition space, coupled with reflections from glass surfaces, posed significant difficulties for capturing high-quality panoramic photographs. Overcoming these challenges required precision and expertise in photography techniques.
2. Capturing the Ambiance: The play of light and shadow, which played a crucial role in creating the unique atmosphere of the physical exhibition, was meticulously replicated and integrated into the online presentation. This attention to detail aimed to provide online visitors with an authentic experience that mirrored the physical exhibition's ambiance.
3. Interactive Elements: Implementing web frontend technologies to recreate the interactive components of the exhibition online demanded careful planning and execution. The goal was to ensure that online visitors could engage with the displays and gain a deeper understanding of the showcased artifacts.
4. Enhancing User Experience: Drawing from our extensive production experience, we prioritized creating a seamless and enjoyable user experience. This approach aimed to encourage visitors to invest more time in exploring and learning about the historical context and information related to the exhibited items.
The online platform serves as a window into the rich cultural heritage showcased in these museums, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in history, culture, and art through the convenience of their devices. By overcoming the challenges of transitioning from the physical to the digital realm, we aim to make this valuable cultural experience accessible to a wider audience and foster a deeper appreciation of Taiwan's heritage.
