About The Entry
The demands of life make it easy to surrender to routine.
As this daily cycle repeats, what was once vivid loses its luster, and what was once stimulating gives way to monotony. However, we experience breakthrough moments, stimulating our senses to fill our worlds with color and emotion.
It is these moments that Jimmy Vi (Director), Toshihiko Kizu (Director of Photography), and Kishin Oyama (Producer) set out to capture in their short film "The Circle," produced by Toboggan Inc. and in cooperation with Zeiss.
This film was shot with only one lens, the ZEISS Supreme Prime 15mm.
This ultra-wide lens features sharpness of detail without distortion and sharp yet rounded and colorful colors. Toshihiko's camera work, created with his unique perspective, was all used to express the "emotional journey" of each character.
While Jimmy was traveling in Japan in May, a mutual acquaintance introduced him to Toboggan Producer Kishin. Jimmy showed Kishin some of his work, and Kishin floated the idea of shooting a film together.
Zeiss immediately agreed to collaborate with them, and the production of "The Circle" was realized.
The filmmakers only had five days to scout and shoot the film before Jimmy left Japan. The shooting was completed in just one day - a testament to the power of inspired spontaneous collaboration.
