In the face of increasing calls to ban plastics and the pervasive myths surrounding recycling, our client came to us with a clear goal: showcase what happens behind-the-scenes in the plastics industry, the benefits provided by the industry, and the undeniable truth that recycling is real and happening in our communities everyday.
We set to work creating a compelling video series that would help our client achieve this goal, focusing on four core principles:
1. Humanizing the Industry: Our video series goes beyond statistics and machinery, putting faces to the industry - the faces of family, friends, and neighbors. By introducing the individuals who power the plastics sector, we connect with the audience on a personal level, fostering understanding and empathy.
2. Disproving the Myth: We confront head-on the long-standing myth that recycling doesn't exist. Through compelling visuals and storytelling, we take viewers on a journey across the country, showcasing real recycling processes and the genuine commitment of industry professionals.
3. Telling the Stories: The videos highlight the profound effects that a ban on plastics would have on lives across the nation. We present a nuanced perspective, demonstrating the positive impact of the industry on communities and the detrimental consequences of hastily discarding it.
4. Educating the Public: Beyond dispelling myths, our videos serve as powerful educational tools. These videos provide an inside look into the process of recycling and the environmental benefits that the plastics industry brings, encouraging informed conversations about sustainability.
The video series addresses common misconceptions about recycling and the plastics industry to actively reshape public opinion. By illustrating the human element and showcasing the industry's positive contributions to our everyday lives, it contributes to a more informed and nuanced discourse around sustainability.
In a world where environmental concerns are top of mind for many Americans, this project is not just a testament to the sustainability of the plastics industry, it also has the chance to provide a catalyst for positive change.
