‘The Muralz - Year of The Flying Dragon’ is a heartfelt 7-and-a-half-minute 2024 Chinese New Year video presented by Rawr Pictures, from Malaysia, in association with PETACE & Penang Global Tourism. Following the success of our debut short film, ‘The Muralz’, which received awards at various film festivals worldwide, this sequel aims to continue the tradition of engaging storytelling and our signature blend of 2D and 3D animation.
In celebration of the Year of the Dragon, our narrative delves into the life of Tong Tong, a young boy eagerly awaiting the return of his father, Mr. Wong. Notably, Mr. Wong's name, ‘Wong Fei Long’, translates to ‘Flying Dragon’ in English, infusing the storyline with cultural richness and symbolism. The setting remains in the culturally vibrant Penang, Malaysia, home to the UNESCO-listed George Town. The film encourages appreciation for the cultural richness of the region, attracting tourists from around the globe.
Mr. Wong, a chef working abroad, is a central character born in the Year of the Dragon. Tong Tong's favorite dish is his father's signature ‘Flying Dragon Char Koay Teow’. The 7-and-a-half-minute video introduces Chinese New Year traditions and tells a touching family story with a dreamlike touch, bringing together elements of culture, tourism, and animation. ‘The Muralz - Year of The Flying Dragon’ offers a glimpse into the charm of Chinese New Year celebrations, family bonds, and culinary delights.
