2023 Yunlin Community Festival--Follow This Way

Yunlin is known as Taiwan’s agricultural capital, but it is also home to rich and diverse cultures. The Yunlin Community Festival featured traditional crafts and local culture from 45 communities across the county, including its mountain, coastal, and plains regions, under the umbrella “Yunlin Good Way.” Spectacular performances and diverse exhibitions showcased Yunlin’s rich culture and art as well as community-building efforts across the county, giving visitors an immersive experience in Yunlin’s local specialties.
This year’s many exhibition areas brought a wide variety of food, handicrafts, paper puppet storytelling, and street theater performances, showing how communities across Yulin are “following their own way.” In terms of performances, a variety of shows presented memories of entertainment across generations. In terms of food, the best community chefs brought the tastes of the mountain and the seas found nowhere else. In terms of crafts, masters from the community shared their secrets and techniques. And the “stories from a box” exhibit was not to be missed, presenting stories from all corners. Visitors were also invited to share their photos with the traditional lantern installation on social media, so that this traditional art can be preserved and remembered as the authentic craftsmanship is savored.
The Yunlin Community Festival is an important platform for showcasing Yunlin’s rich cultural heritage, in keeping with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal “Sustainable Cities and Communities.” Thanks to the efforts of the government and general public, this invaluable heritage is preserved and continues to embody the spirit of creativity, cultural preservation, and community involvement.
